Birch Series

Four states of being. Four birch trees. One series.

SPOT ON, 04.2026

Oil on canvas | 120 × 80 cm

Like figures engaged in a silent dialogue, the birches stand within the space: slender, upright, separated from one another, yet subtly connected. In Spot On, the trees become quiet protagonists – human presences in the guise of nature. Each carries its own posture, its own character. Some step forward, others recede; some seem to encounter one another, while others stand entirely on their own.

The forest becomes a stage. Amid the cool, silvery ensemble, one birch emerges – slender, luminous, impossible to overlook. Positioned according to the golden ratio and bathed in light, it appears as though the forest itself has prepared the scene. The title Spot On refers precisely to this moment: the instant in which something becomes visible, almost like a theatrical revelation.

The warm glow of the autumn forest floor, the muted canopy above, and the single radiant trunk create an atmosphere suspended between stillness and presence. The painting moves between observation and staging, as if the forest were drawing back the curtain for a brief moment.

A work that does not merely occupy a space, but fills it with atmosphere.

IN LUMINE, 05.2026

Oil on canvas | 120 × 120 cm

Light does not merely pass through this birch forest – it shapes it. The trunks appear and disappear, emerge and dissolve again within a network of colour, structure, and space. What is initially perceived as a forest gradually transforms into a play of brightness, shadow, and transition.

The title In Lumine – “in the light” – points to the true subject of the painting. It is not the individual trees that take centre stage, but the light between them: that fleeting element which reveals forms while simultaneously dissolving their boundaries.

The silvery trunks seem to carry the light itself, while warm tones of gold and ochre lend the painting a quiet inner radiance. Between density and openness, a space emerges that is less to be described than to be experienced.

In Lumine invites the viewer to let the eye wander and step for a moment into the still atmosphere of the forest – a place where light is not only visible, but becomes the subject of the painting itself.

DUO, 06.2026

Oil on canvas | 120 x 60 cm

Two. Two birches stand side by side. They do not touch, yet a tangible connection exists between them. Like two individuals, they share the same space, asserting their independence while simultaneously forming a unity.

The title Duo refers to this interplay of proximity and distance. The two trunks emerge from the rhythm of the forest without separating themselves from it. The eye moves back and forth between them, follows their lines upward, and discovers distinct attitudes and characters in their juxtaposition.

The restrained palette and the calm structure of the painting draw attention to what matters most: the relationship between the two forms. What first appears as a motif from nature may equally be read as an encounter – a silent dialogue without words.

Duo moves between observation of nature and human suggestion. The painting tells no specific story, yet it opens a space for personal associations about connection, companionship, and the delicate balance between closeness and individuality.
